Privacy Policy

This policy explains how OpenLog stores your content, what information is shared, and which permissions are requested.

What OpenLog stores locally

Your entries, entry text, photos, voice recordings, documents and other attachments, locations, preferences, and local profile name are stored on your device. The app works offline. You can export these contents to a backup file you choose and import them again later.

How your data is stored

OpenLog stores your timeline, attachments, and profile settings on your device. The current app does not provide account sign-in or cloud sync, so no registration is required.

Anonymous product analytics

When analytics are enabled for a build, OpenLog uses PostHog for coarse product events and diagnostics. Events can include screen names, feature use, media counts, recording durations, backup byte or entry counts, app version, device information, language, time zone, and a random installation identifier.

Analytics do not include entry text, attachment names, photos, recordings, locations, or profile values. We do not use this data for advertising. See PostHog’s privacy policy.

Permissions

OpenLog asks only when a feature needs access:

• Photos and files: choose media or documents to attach, or save an image when you ask.
• Microphone: record a voice note.
• Location: add your current place to an entry when you choose.
• Notifications: show progress and completion updates for backup and restore actions.

Backups and deletion

Backups are created, selected, and stored by you. OpenLog does not receive them. Delete entries or attachments in the app to remove them from local storage. Uninstalling the app removes its local data according to your device’s operating system. Keep a backup before resetting or replacing a device.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data or show advertising.
• We do not read or share your entry content.
• We do not collect location, media, attachment names, or profile values for analytics.

Children and changes

OpenLog is not directed at children under 13. We may update this policy as the app changes. For a material change to data handling, we will provide notice in the app or on the website where practical, and publish the current policy here with a new revision date before the change takes effect.
